Newcastle United welcome Manchester United to St James’ Park on Tuesday evening as both sides get back to Premier League action following the FA Cup third round.
Both sides struggled in that famous old competition, but while Manchester United scraped a late win against Sheffield United, Newcastle must now focus solely on their league campaign after losing 1-0 to Watford.
Newcastle are currently 18th in the table, two points behind Swansea City and the relative safety of 17th position.
As for Manchester United, they are fifth, three points behind Tottenham who occupy the final Champions League qualifying place as things stand.
In early team news, Newcastle are without Tim Krul, Steven Taylor, Massadio Haidara, Gabriel Obertan and Papiss Cisse.
There are minor doubts concerning Rolando Aarons, Jack Colback and Vurnon Anita but all three are rated at 75 per cent to be available.
As for Louis van Gaal’s side, they are without Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia and Nick Powell, while they have minor doubts regarding Bastian Schweinsteiger, Ashley Young and Phil Jones.
