Tottenham Hotspur gave run-outs to some fringe players against Leicester City at the weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur had a late Harry Kane penalty to thank for their continued participation in this season’s FA Cup.

With time running out at White Hart Lane on Sunday Leicester City were 2-1 up after goals from Marcin Wasilewski and Shinji Okazaki had cancelled out an eighth-minute opener from Christian Eriksen. But a contentious penalty following a handball from Nathan Dyer gave Kane the opportunity to equalise.

That means an unwanted replay for two teams flying high in the Premier League but Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will at least be grateful that his side remains in the competition.

Among those Tottenham players on show were 18-year-old midfielder Josh Onomah and summer signing Kevin Wimmer.

Both players started the match and played the entire 90 minutes as they sought to earn more chances in the future.

Wimmer will be hard-pressed to get in ahead of first-choice centre-back pairing Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in the league. However he should get another chance when these two teams meet for what will be the fourth time this season.
