Norwich City fans react on Twitter to Benik Afobe's Bournemouth transfer

Norwich City

Norwich City were linked closely with Benik Afobe in the summer.

Bournemouth's Premier League match against Norwich City next weekend has taken on an added layer of intrigue after the Cherries signed Benik Afobe from Wolves.

The two newly promoted sides have both had a good start to the season, but it is Bournemouth who have acted quickest in the transfer window to make a big signing, buying Afobe for a price The BBC report is £10 million.

The deal carries extra significance regarding the Canaries because it was Alex Neil's side who attempted extensively to sign Afobe in the summer.

The BBC reported in August that Norwich had three bids for the former Arsenal trainee rejected by Wolves, who had only signed him last January.

Norwich's reasons for not returning for the striker are unclear, although Afobe has not been quite as prolific in the first half of this season as he was in the second half of last, with nine goals in 23 starts this campaign as opposed to 13 in 20.

Even with Afobe signed up, it has been reported by SkySports that Bournemouth have made an offer for Norwich's Lewis Grabban, although even if the Canaries wish to sell, they may be wise to delay any deal until after next week's game.

Fans of the Canaries have offered a mixed reaction via twitter, but many are insisting that Afobe was not the right player for the club at the moment. Here is a look at the reaction...
