Newcastle will take on United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.
“The Magpies have lost their last four competitive games by the only goal of the game and it would be a surprise if we saw a goal fest at St James’s Park between two of my old clubs,” former Newcastle and United striker Owen has written on Betvictor.com. “There is likely to be little between the sides and perhaps the value lies with the hosts.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Double chance Newcastle and the draw at 21/20.”
Newcastle are in terrible form at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
The Magpies are currently third from bottom in the Premier League table with 17 points from 20 matches, just two points behind 17th-placed Swansea City.
Steve McClaren’s side will head into the match against United on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Watford away from home at Vicarage Road in the third round of the FA Cup.
The Red Devils are in better form than Newcastle, but their football under manager Louis van Gaal this season has left much to be desired.
United have been criticised for their unentertaining, dull and unimaginative football, but they do have the ability to eke out results despite that.
