Is Spanish striker Kike the answer for Leeds United?

Should Leeds United return for Middlesbrough striker Kike.

Leeds United have already completed one loan signing from Middlesbrough this transfer window, could they return to Teeside to do another deal?

The Whites attempted to sign Kike from 'Boro on the emergency loan deadline in November, the Yorkshire Post reported, but were unsuccessful.

The striker has netted just once in his last 10 games and could become surplus to requirements if the promotion chasers decide to make a move of their own in the transfer window, with the Lancashire Telegraph among those to report Middlesbrough are planning to return with an offer for Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes.

He has been used frequently as a substitute this season, with just nine of his 17 appearances being starts.

At Leeds, Kike could link up with winger Mustapha Carayol who scored on his debut for the Whites at the weekend in the FA Cup victory over Rotherham.

HITC reported earlier today that Wolves are interested in Kike, with money to spend from the sale of Benik Afobe. Leeds are just two points behind them in the table, and while both teams are outsiders to make the play-offs, bringing in a new striker will help.

Steve Evans has shown himself to be shrewd in the transfer market so far with Carayol and Bridcutt signed on loan, and if Kike is available, given his previous interest in the striker it is likely he will enquire about the possibility of signing the forward.

The Spaniard could potentially replace Mirco Antenucci if he is sold, with interest mounting from Italian sides as he is in the final six months of his contract, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported.
