Liverpool v Arsenal predicted line-ups and match preview

Liverpool Anfield Road Paisley Gateway

Arsenal travel to Anfield looking to maintain their advantage at the top of the Premier League while Liverpool will look to keep themselves in contention for a Champions League place.

To be played on Wednesday 13th January 2016 at 20:00. Venue: Anfield, Liverpool

Odds: Liverpool 47/23, Draw 13/5, Arsenal 6/4

It's back to Premier League action after exploits in the cups for Jurgen Klopp's side, and it is expected that many of his remaining first-team players who were protected in the draw against Exeter City on Friday night will be available to face the league leaders at Anfield.

Centre-backs remain a problem for the home side given that a spate of injuries has affected all four of their main recognised defenders but one or two of them could return against the Gunners.

As for Arsenal, they will be looking to maintain their advantage at the top of the Premier League as it seems this season really does look like their best opportunity to end their 12-year wait for the title.

It's a key period of fixtures for Liverpool as they look to make home advantage count against both Arsenal and then Manchester United four days later to keep themselves in contention for a Champions League place before they negotiate key cup fixtures again with a trip to Norwich City sandwiched in between.

This is also the start of a tricky spell of league games for Arsenal as well before they travel to Stoke City and then host Chelsea. They need a win here to lay down a marker and to maintain some momentum when their title credentials are likely to be tested.
