Ian Wright reacts to Manchester United’s reported interest in Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with Manchester United.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Ian Wright has reacted to the report claiming that Manchester United want to hire Mauricio Pochettino from Tottenham Hotspur as Louis van Gaal’s successor.

Wright said: “We’re talking about Manchester United coming in for Pochettino. It’s paper talk, but it has started. Your manager is doing well and there is something happening at Spurs. If they get rid of the manager, or Harry Kane, it says to me they have no ambition. Absolutely none.”

The Mirror reported that Pochettino is wanted by the Red Devils, as a replacement for Van Gaal.

Pochettino has worked wonders since taking charge of Spurs, making them realistic title contenders with a young and exciting playing squad, incorporating youth into his team with positive results.

He has established himself as arguably the best manager in the entire division, and any club would want to see him in charge.

United believe they can bring him in, and Pochettino’s youth development and desire to play attacking football make him a perfect fit at Old Trafford.

However, Spurs have no plans to lose the manager who could lead them to a first ever Premier League title, and Wright has claimed that getting rid of Pochettino would prove that Tottenham have no ambition to ever grow and improve.

Thankfully for fans of the North London club, Daniel Levy and his fellow management team look to be exceptionally pleased with Pochettino’s work, and it is hard to imagine them willingly letting the head coach leave White Hart Lane any time soon.
