Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, which was broadcast on 9 January, that Tottenham Hotspur still have something missing.
However, Nicholas feels that Tottenham have drawn too many matches this season to be considered as the finished article.
'When you draw as many as you have won, that tells you that there’s something missing," Nicholas said.
"It was evident again at Goodison Park, that there was a slowing down period in their pressing game. I think they need cover at centre-back.
"When Spurs start to focus on it and get more boisterous about things, they don’t seem to handle that pressure well."
Tottenham have drawn nine of their 20 matches so far, and their failure to turn one point into three is what has cost them the chance of rising even higher in the table.
that said Spurs have lost fewer Premier League matches than any other team, and they have the best defensive record of any side in England’s top flight.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been beaten just once in their last 19 league matches, but they are six points behind top of the table Arsenal.
Spurs’ next chance to close the gap on their North London rivals comes on Wednesday night, when they take on fellow top-four chasers Leicester City for the second time in a week.
