According to a report in Estadio Deportivo, Bournemouth are said to have launched a £9 million bid for Sporting Lisbon ace Andre Carrillo.
The Cherries seem intent on strengthening their attacking options this month, with striker Benik Afobe arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend in a club-record deal.
The newly promoted club aren’t finished there, however, as reports in Spain claim they are edging ahead of Sevilla in the race to sign South American talent Carrillo.
Estadio Deportivo report that a £9m bid has been lodged for the winger and it’s a figure Sevilla aren’t willing to match as the La Liga outfit refuse to be drawn into an auction.
Carrillo is a Peruvian international and is widely regarded as one of the top players in Portugal, having played more than 100 games for Sporting and a total of 29 times for his country. Capable of playing through the middle as a second striker or out wide, the 24-year-old is predominantly a winger and has spent much of the current campaign providing an attacking threat from the flanks.
He is quick, strong and very athletic - attributes that would make him ideal for the Premier League.
Bournemouth currently sit four points above the drop zone and have targeted their attack as a key area for improvement as they seek to preserve their top-flight status.
Boss Eddie Howe favours attacking football on the South Coast and Carrillo would undoubtedly be a fine option for the Cherries. Convincing him to join, however, could prove quite difficult.
