It is not the first time Remy has been touted for a move to White Hart Lane. While at Marseille the striker was suggested as a target for then Spurs boss Harry Redknapp in early 2012, The BBC reported.
Remy later moved to Queen's Park Rangers, and has had a mixed time in England, with a spell on loan at Newcastle United and signing for Chelsea last season and picking up a Premier League title winner's medal.
He has not been able to establish himself as a first choice at Stamford Bridge, and this season has made only one Premier League start and seven substitute appearances, which is a terrible waste of a talented player at a team struggling in the bottom half of the division.
Tottenham would be doing good business by signing Remy on the loan deal speculated on by The Mirror, but it would not be a smart deal for Chelsea to sanction, as it would threaten to put more distance between the two clubs.
If Chelsea are serious about mounting a late push to finish in a top four place then it is not wise to strengthen a rival, while it is also questionable whether relations between the hierarchies at the two clubs are cordial enough to negotiate such a transfer.
Here is a look at how Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter to the possibility of signing the Frenchman...
Personally I'd love to see Remy come to the Lane. He doesn't get enough credit & wasted at Chelsea. Movement & finishing are quality #COYS— HotspurGraphics (@HotspurGraphics) January 10, 2016
I don't think Spurs should pursue Berahino this month, Remy on loan would be good shout but cant see Chelsea being interested. #COYS— Triggerfish (@Triggyid) January 10, 2016
If we can sign Berahino and get Remy on loan and add Some pace on the wings then job done for champs league for sure #THFC— Matt Renolds (@TheOnlyReno) January 10, 2016
I wonder if Remy went to Spurs instead of Chelsea a few years back if Kane would have broken into the first team. #thoughtoftheday— My Success Mind (@mysuccessmind) January 10, 2016
I'd take Loic Remy as a back up striker any day of the week, but no way would Abramovic and Levy do business— Brandon. (@youknowLloris) January 10, 2016
