Ronny Deila speaks about Griffiths and Cole after Stranraer victory

Celtic ran out comfortable winners in the Scottish Cup this weekend.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has been speaking following his side’s 3-0 victory against Stranraer in the Scottish Cup, in comments later published on the club’s official Twitter account.

A goal from recent addition Carlton Cole and two more for Leigh Griffiths gave the Bhoys a comfortable victory but the League One side worked hard throughout and can be very proud of their efforts.

Despite the divisional gap between the two teams Deila sent out a very strong Celtic side and they quickly set about making their mark on the encounter.

Griffiths opened the scoring in the 18th minute and Cole made it 2-0 shortly before half-time, before an 84th-minute strike from the Scotland international completed his brace and put the game to bed.

Speaking after the game, Deila said, “I thought Cole did okay. He played well with Leigh. They scored three together so I can’t be irritated about that.

“Leigh is important for us. He scores goals and works really hard for the team as well. He is my dream striker.”

That is no surprise when you consider the 25-year-old has already scored 20 goals in just 30 matches for Celtic this season.

In contrast Cole opened his account for Celtic in what was his fourth appearance since signing as a free agent last year.
