Report: Genoa join the race for Aston Villa outcast Libor Kozak

Winston Reid and Libor Kozak

The Czech already has experience in Italian football.

Aston Villa striker Libor Kozak cost the club a fee reported by the BBC to be in the region of £7 million.

The Czech Republic striker had starred in the Europa League with Lazio and it was hoped he could be a regular goalscorer in English football.

But he broke his leg early on and has struggled to establish himself ever since. This summer Aston Villa moved for strikers in the transfer market this summer. The club brought in Jordan Ayew and Rudy Gestede to supplement the departure of Christian Benteke and Kozak has had to watch on.

He has played just twice this season for the Premier League's basement club and has been linked with a whole heap of potential destinations.

Today has seen another club linked with a move for Kozak - as Genoa are linked with bringing him back to Italy.

It is reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Mercato 365, that Genoa are interested on bringin in the player on loan until the end of the season.

Kozak, who also played for Brescia during his time in Italy, will surely be desperate for the chance to prove himself elsewhere/
