It seems a lack of confidence is a club-wide issue for QPR. It isn't just their first team but the youngsters, too, after an experimental starting XI was named at Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
The R's ended up losing again, even though a couple of younger players did impress supporters.
A lack of effort is more of an issue. Certainly where QPR fans are concerned when it comes to Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.
Indeed, the 25-year-old forward has struggled for game time this season - and his Loftus Road future could be under threat if he continues at his current rate.
When finally given the chance against Nottingham Forest, 'JET' incensed some fans with his attitude. Many branded him 'lazy' and feel he doesn't have a place at QPR if that's the kind of performance he puts in to try and prove a point.
The west London side, generally, are struggling: there are no two ways about that. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has a strong reputation and the majority of onlookers believe he will turn things around at Loftus Road.
But what his early struggles at QPR have shown is that there's plenty of work to be done - from top to bottom at the club. Here's how R's fans reacted on Twitter to Emmanuel-Thomas's display v Nottingham Forest:
JET was the main 1 for that today, add him to the list of players who need shipping out this month. #QPR— Zack McCormack (@ZTMcCormack) January 9, 2016
These calling for JET to be included only need to have been there today to see why he & Gladwin don't get picked, no effort #QPR— RichardBurge (@richburge54) January 9, 2016
@QPRFC Get rid of JET. He is lazy. No wonder he's been a journeyman.— Yousef Marafi® (@Yousef_QPR) January 10, 2016
Watched my sons U16 team beat the U18 in a friendly. I enjoyed it more than watching #QPR— GARO (@g_a_zz) January 10, 2016
