Sheffield Wednesday agree fee for Crystal Palace defender Jack Hunt

HITC Sport understands Sheffield Wednesday have agreed a fee to sign the on-loan defender.

Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on the permanent signing of on-loan defender Jack Hunt after agreeing a fee with Crystal Palace, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Right-back Hunt is currently on a season-long loan to Wednesday from Crystal Palace and the right-back has impressed at Hillsborough.

Hunt has made 21 appearances in all competitions for Wednesday and the Owls have previously indicated they would be keen on making his move permanent during this month’s transfer window.

Talks are at an advanced stage between both clubs and Wednesday have agreed an undisclosed fee with Palace to keep the highly-rated defender.

Palace have reluctantly agreed to sell Hunt after finding himself well down the pecking order at Selhurst Park.

Hunt joined Palace in September 2013 from Huddersfield, but he failed feature for the club after suffering a serious ankle injury in training just after signing and then spending last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and Rotherham.

Hunt's signing for Wednesday will come as a major boost for Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal as he looks to mount a bid for promotion to the Premier League in the second half of the season.
