Kevin Mbabu braves Twitter after Newcastle defeat, highlights one positive

St James Park Four

The talented 20-year-old performed well for Newcastle despite a 1-0 loss to Watford.

Newcastle United defender Kevin Mbabu took to Twitter after his side's 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Watford on Saturday afternoon.

He was the only one to do so after elimination at the hands of the Hornets - and highlighted his joy at being back in the side.

And the positive of Mbabu returning to the Newcastle side might be the Magpies' only positive right now - or certainly their biggest.

As manager Steve McClaren has been at pains to point out recently, the St James' Park outfit aren't playing terribly, certainly not as badly as they did at stages earlier this season.

Yet, as far as their points tally is concerned in the Premier League (and their exit from the FA Cup), that doesn't matter. Results are the key barometer for McClaren and the Newcastle players.

Right now, their lack of goals is dearly costing them. It just so happens to be the January transfer window, however. Those who run the club need to step in and run it. Good signings will ease the pressure on the existing squad, although they, too, need to start taking their chances.
