Yet, as far as their points tally is concerned in the Premier League (and their exit from the FA Cup), that doesn't matter. Results are the key barometer for McClaren and the Newcastle players.
Right now, their lack of goals is dearly costing them. It just so happens to be the January transfer window, however. Those who run the club need to step in and run it. Good signings will ease the pressure on the existing squad, although they, too, need to start taking their chances.
