Sunderland went down 3-1 to Arsenal in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at making his debut for the club.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper played for the Black Cats’ first team for the first time in his career on Saturday afternoon.

The England Under-21 international started the FA Cup third-round tie against Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium in North London. Pickford played for the entire 90 minutes, as Arsenal won the tie 3-1.

The youngster did not fare badly despite the scoreline, and he will hope that this is the first of many matches he will play for Sunderland this season.

The Englishman was recently recalled from his loan spell at Championship side Preston North End.

Pickford has taken to Twitter to express his delight at making his first-team debut for the Black Cats on Saturday, with Sunderland fans responding to his message on the social networking site.
