Has Shearer got a point or has he completely lost the plot?
The 22-year-old has been tipped to be making a move to join his former teammate Gareth Bale at Real Madrid, as Zinedine Zidane looks to rebuild the La Liga giants, as reported by the Telegraph.
And could you blame them for wanting the England striker? Kane has already netted 11 times in the Premier League for Mauricio Pochettino's side this season, and ended his 2015 with an astonishing 27 goals in the league alone.
Although Pochettino has said he is not for sale, former Newcastle and England captain, Alan Shearer, reckons that if he was the chairman of any big club, he would be splashing the cash on him.
But just how much would he spend? Well, ahead of the FA Cup third round match with Leicester City, Shearer claimed that Kane is easily worth £80-90million!
Goodness! Is that as crazy as it sounds? Well, a report by the CIES Football Observatory, claimed that Kane's current valuation as determind by performances and contract length, is £66.9m, making him the most expensive Englishman in Europe.
Although Shearer might not be too far off the mark with how much Kane would cost, plenty of fans took to Twitter to have a right good laugh at the Geordie legend:
Shearer describing Harry Kane as an 80/90 million pound player?!!!! Another example of overhyping a young English footballer. #Spurs— Futbol Avenue (@FutbolAvenue) January 10, 2016
I really did rate Shearer as a pundit but he's just said Harry Kane is worth £80-90m. Shocker— Alfie Felicien (@AlfieFelicien) January 10, 2016
Just heard Shearer say if he was a manager he'd tell his chairman to go and spend £90m on Kane. And that is why no one would employ him.— Kev (@GarrulousGooner) January 10, 2016
Did Shearer just say Kane is worth £80 million? He's lost the plot— Harls (@HarleighJWT) January 10, 2016
