Tottenham drew 2-2 with Leicester but trailed throughout the second half, with Lineker producing a delighted reaction on Twitter as Shinji Okazaki gave the visitors the lead.
And he directed his positivity towards Italian coach Ranieri, who could yet see his side progress to the next round, as the replay will take place at the King Power Stadium.
Ranieri is a bloody genius. An absolutely inspirational manager.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) January 10, 2016
Ranieri's 'genius' has been on show all season at Leicester - but how will Mauricio Pochettino and the Spurs fans feel after the 2-2 draw?
On the negative side, many believe Tottenham were very fortunate to win their late penalty, while the difference between the north London side's weakened team and their strongest was noticeable (even if not too big). Now, they will also have an extra game added to their busy schedule.
On the plus side, however, Tottenham are still in the FA Cup - whereas Leicester beat them at this stage last year the first time around. Pochettino brought some big guns on in the second half and substitute Harry Kane showed real composure to net the equaliser.
