Arsenal overcame Sunderland on Saturday but what did Gunners fans think of the young attacker?
While some Premier League big boys struggled against lower league opposition in the FA Cup third round, leaders Arsenal had no such trouble against top-flight opposition, winning 3-1 against Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Goals from Joel Campbell, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud ensured that Jeremain Lens’ 17th-minute opener was, by the full-time whistle, a mere consolation for the visitors.
Along with the familiar names Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger also gave a start to 19-year-old winger Alex Iwobi and the Nigerian did not look out of place among his far more experienced teammates.
Iwobi was making only his sixth appearance for Arsenal’s first-team and following on from a series of brief cameos in the league it seems the future is very bright for the teenager who is equally comfortable on the wing or as a secondary striker.
Following his latest performance we took to Twitter to see what Arsenal fans thought and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Great build up from Iwobi in Arsenals first goal . For such a young player he really does have a good sense in his passing.— DRC85 (@Daniel_Ryan17) January 10, 2016
Liked how Iwobi handled himself yesterday, a good example of how a youngster should play for the first team.— W (@Litmanen_) January 10, 2016
Was very impressed with young master Iwobi today. Thought he had a good show.— chiroboi (@chiroboi) January 10, 2016
Thought Joel was excellent & Bellerin had a great second half but the stand out for me was Iwobi. Mature, strong & played with his head up.— RickyGee (@GeezyPeas) January 10, 2016
Good day at the Arsenal. Alex Iwobi was class, showed a lot of promise. Bellerin and Koscielny were standardly superb, as per usual.— James Palmer (@JJPalmer26) January 9, 2016
