Steve Evans explains the advice he gave to Doukara before Rotherham clash

The Leeds head coach has been discussing the 24-year-old following his side's FA Cup win over the Millers.

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans says he urged Souleymane Doukara to work hard against Rotherham United on Saturday afternoon, according to BBC Football.

Indeed, the Scot insists Doukara will always have a part to play at the Yorkshire side going forward if he shows enough application.

And the advice seems to have paid off, with the Frenchman working hard and also netting in the FA Cup against Rotherham.

The Leeds head coach told the BBC after the cup tie: "I said to Doukara when he works as hard as he did when he came on at Wolves, he will always have a part to play with us going forward."

The 24-year-old has done well for Leeds of late - with the exception of his performance when alone up top in a 4-5-1 formation.

However much Evans may blame Doukara's work-rate for that display, though, some responsibility needs to go to the manager for playing him in a position he's not comfortable with.

Against Rotherham, Doukara was supported by Mirco Antenucci and the Whites looked a different prospect.

Leeds are quietly on quite a run of form and next up for United is a Championship trip to Ipswich Town. Can Evans' men get back-to-back wins and deliver another encouraging performance?
