Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson raves about world-class Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli

The Spurs starlet has been incredible in his debut season at Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur have been in fantastic form this season and there is no doubt that they will be expected to pick up some silverware come the end of the season.

One of the star players of the campaign has certainly been a surprise. Dele Alli was undoubtedly a highly rated talent, that's why Tottenham splashed out a fee reported by the BBC to be around £5 million to bring him from MK Dons. Nobody however could have expected this.

Alli has become a central figure in the Tottenham Hotspur team and has even made his debut for England.

Now considered the obvious choice for PFA Young Player of the Year the midfielder has certainly impressed former Arsenal magic-man Paul Merson.

Speaking on Gilette Soccer Saturday (09/01/2016) he hailed the world-class performance of Alli in the recent 1-1 draw v Everton - in which he scored the equaliser.

Merson stated:

"I did have great faith in him, I thought he could be a good player. But no he didn't need to play as well as he is playing, for me, to get in the England squad. But this is outstanding.

"At the moment with the way he is playing he is as good as anybody.

"He is playing in a very good football team.

"(His goal v Everton) It's a great run, touch, to know where the goal is and finish it. I mean you can't talk highly enough of that, everything he does. That is just world-class, if Messi was doing that we'd be going mad.

"This kid, his temperament is very cool and collected. He sees the picture, before the ball has even come he knows what he's going to do. I think he is outstanding."

Alli has certainly taken fans and pundits alike by surprise with his performances for the club this season and looks to have his seat on the plane to France in the summer booked.

As for Tottenham, fans will hope the teenager can lead them to glory this term.
