The French striker has not played a single game for the club this season.

Newcastle United take on Watford in the FA Cup this afternoon and that fixture may present several first-team fringe players with a chance to get some game time.

The club took to training yesterday with one such player looking to catch the eye of Steve McClaren.

Emmanuel Riviere has never taken English football by storm since his summer arrival in 2014.

The 25-year-old joined Newcastle in July 2014 for a fee reported by the Daily Mail to be in the region of £6 million from French outfit AS Monaco.

But he struggled in his debut season with the club, scoring just three times in 28 appearances for the club and having to wait until May for his first Premier League goal.

This summer he picked up a knee injury and has been working toward full fitness ever since - not playing a single minute of football in the 2015-16 so far.

But he is now getting involved in first-team training again and will be one player looking to get involved in the FA Cup clash with The Hornets later today.
