Crystal Palace beat Southampton 2-1 at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The top-flight duo faced off in one of a number of all Premier League ties and it certainly didn’t disappoint as both sides went all out for the win and played with such vigour and energy.
Joel Ward put Palace ahead in the first half before Oriol Romeu deservedly drew the hosts level just after half-time, setting up a real cup tie for the remaining 30 odd minutes.
It was back-and-forth before Wilfried Zaha grabbed the winner for Palace 20 minutes from time before Saints striker Shane Long was denied an equaliser at the death by the woodwork.
A great backing from the Palace faithful enjoyed a cracking match, prompting former player Mark Bright to share a few words on Twitter and offer his congratulations.
After a disappointing first-half of the campaign last season, Palace’s success in 2015 was simply outstanding and their victory over Saints tops off a superb turnaround from Alan Pardew.
The club are going strong in the Premier League, looking to add real quality players in the transfer market and are in to the fourth round of the FA Cup with hopes of going far in the competition.
Being a Palace supporter right now must feel pretty good indeed.
