The 27-year-old disappointed Villa fans on Saturday afternoon, even if many feel some supporters took things too far.
Indeed, Gestede didn't make any kind of impact against Wycombe Wanderers and supporters have grown increasingly frustrated with his contributions this season.
Many Villa fans do, however, feel those who confronted the target man on Saturday took things too far.
But that doesn't change the fact Gestede has flattered to deceive and delivered another poor display against Wycombe, while his attitude in the face of criticism has been questioned by some.
As Opta stats show, the 27-year-old has scored just three Premier League goals this season - yet he is supposed to be Villa's biggest goal threat.
Yes, Gestede has lacked service at Aston Villa. But his FA Cup display on Saturday was very much like his league displays, according to supporters.
Some fans may have gone too far but the target man's attitude and general performance seemed to incense the Villa faithful. Here's how supporters reacted on Twitter to the striker's display v Wycombe:
I think the supporters have been through enough. And when you see people not caring - Gestede today - it's very hard to take. #avfc— Alex Berwick (@Alex_Berwick) January 9, 2016
Not condoning today's action but Bacuna laughing to the fans and Gestede mouthing off?? What's all that about? #avfc— Jay (@jaylawrie88) January 9, 2016
#AVFC There's no question that of all the signings we made in the summer, Rudy Gestede is by far and away the most disappointing of them all— thegolfingvillan (@brucemacgolf) January 9, 2016
About time we bring gabby back from the cold storage I am sure he wont be more of a deadweight than Gestede on the pitch #avfc— Karan Khanna (@khaalbro) January 9, 2016
