Why Wednesday signing Alan Judge would make them real promotion contenders

Sheffield Wednesday - The Owls

Sheffield Wednesday are interested in Brentford’s Alan Judge.

As detailed in a recent report by HITC, Sheffield Wednesday are keen to sign Brentford’s Alan Judge and have already launched a bid for the talented midfielder.

The Owls have experienced a huge transformation since the arrival of Dejphon Chansiri as owner, going from a club who sold their better players to one trying to buy the very best talents from their rivals.

Their squad has already taken great shape this season, with the likes of Fernando Forestieri, Barry Bannan, Lucas Joao and Daniel Pudil vastly increasing the quality at Hillsborough.

Carlos Carvahal’s men currently sit just two points off the playoff spots in seventh, but many Championship observers still feel they have a long way to go before posing any real threat.

Well, the potential addition of Brentford’s Judge could significantly change that perspective.

The 27-year-old has been one of the Championship’s outstanding players this season, scoring an incredible 10 goals and adding a further seven assists in 23 league matches.

There aren’t many better attacking players in the league at present, other than perhaps Wednesday’s Forestieri, and the thought of having the two in the same team is a frightening proposition.

Wednesday have gradually improved as the season has gone on, and with three wins from their last four league matches, now is the time for them to really push on.

A new striker, holding midfielder and centre-back are all positions which are deemed priorities for the club, but bringing in a player of Judge’s capabilities is what could separate them from the rest.

The Republic of Ireland international scores, creates, links up well and works hard for the team. If Wednesday get him, only a brave man would back against them finishing in the top six at the very least.
