Update on reported Tottenham Hotspur move for Nicolas Nkoulou

Tottenham Hotspur were claimed to be interested in Nicolas Nkoulou.

Tottenham Hotspur's reported move for Nicolas Nkoulou is not likely to happen, report French outlet Le10Sport.

Calciomercato had claimed last night that Spurs had struck a deal to sign the Cameroon centre-back from Marseille, in a deal worth £5.2 million.

The defender's contract with the French side is running down, but no deal for him to move to Spurs is agreed,Le10Sport claim.

Earlier this week, Marseille president Vincent Labrune was quoted by Eurosport France stating that he would not sell Nkoulou this January, and would not shed a tear if he leaves on a free transfer in the summer, believing keeping the team together is more important.

At Tottenham, Nkoulou would find it tough to break into the team with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen forming a formidable defensive partnership, conceding the fewest goals in the Premier League, and he would have had to compete with Kevin Wimmer for a back up spot.
