Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has revealed to The Yorkshire Evening Post that he wants Giuseppe Bellusci to remain at Elland Road.
According to GianlucadiMarzio.com, Italian clubs Hellas Verona are interested in signing the 26-year-old central defender in the January transfer window.
“I’ve put names on a sheet of paper and said to the president: ‘I want these people to be here on the first of February’,” Evans told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “Peppe was on that sheet.”
Bellusci joined Leeds from Catania in the summer of 2014 and is considered an important part of the current set-up by Evans.
The Italian centre-back featured in 30 Championship games for Leeds last season, scoring two goals and creating nine chances in the process.
The former Ascoli man had a pass accuracy of 73% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and won 54 headers, 17 dribbles and 57 tackles.
So far this season, Bellusci has created one chance in 13 league matches for the West Yorkshire outfit. The defender has a pass accuracy of 70% and a shot accuracy of 43%, and has won 19 headers, four dribbles and 21 tackles.
