Gardner has moved to Forest until the end of the season, after Aston Villa allowed him to leave on a temporary basis.
The fact that Villa allowed the 23-year-old to go has disappointed Collymore, but he is pleased that the youngster has decided to sign for Forest.
Gardner’s arrival at Forest has delighted the club’s supporters, as he impressed during his time with the Championship outfit last season.
Gardner was at Forest for the back end of last season, making 18 appearances and scoring four times.
His return to the City Ground has also pleased the Forest squad, with Henri Lansbury expressing his delight at the transfer on social media.
Gardner is expected to go straight into Dougie Freedman’s team after rejoining the Reds, and he could play for the Reds in their FA Cup match against Queens Park Rangers tomorrow.
