According to the latest reports from French publication L’Equipe, Aston Villa and Norwich City have both bid for Lamine Kone while Newcastle United have joined the interested parties.
The Ivory Coast international defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this month, as a result of a string of fine displays in the French top-flight.
A switch to Sunderland seemed very much on the cards, yet a move to the Stadium of Light never materialised as instead the Black Cats yesterday sealed a deal for Jan Kirchhoff.
“Lorient defender Lamine Koné is the subject of two offers from Premier League sides, Norwich and Aston Villa, according to various French reports this morning,” Get French Football’s report reads.
Their report also cites Newcastle with an interest, though the Magpies are seemingly seeking a new striker before anything else as they identify their top January priority.
Villa and Norwich both need defensive reinforcements, though considering the situation of both clubs a move to the Canaries would probably seem the more likely.
Remi Garde’s side currently occupy last place in the Premier League having not won a game since the opening day of the season. Buying players will be difficult with relegation on the horizon.
As for Norwich, they have a decent shot at staying up though they need to add at least a new defender and goal scorer in January in order to ease their worries.
