The Reds boss is said to be keen on his former Borussia Dortmund star, who is currently at Bayern Munich.
The German boss helped develop Gotze when they worked together at former club Borussia Dortmund, with the midfielder eventually going on to star in his country’s World Cup triumph in 2014.
Things have not gone entirely to plan for him at Bayern Munich; and the fierce competition for places at the Allianz has somewhat hindered his progress.
Indeed, he was linked with a move away from the club earlier in the campaign, as the player himself refused to rule out a move, as reported by Sky Sports.
And Klopp may look to exploit that again in future, with Bild reporting he is keen to link up once again with his former Borussia Dortmund star.
He would not be a cheap option though, with it anticipated it would cost upwards of £37million for the Reds to secure his signature.
Bayern would also be likely be unwilling to sell their current star, especially with Pep Guardiola set to be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.
