According to a report in The Sun, Bournemouth are leading the race to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Benik Afobe.
The Cherries have already shown their ambition in the January transfer window by signing Juan Iturbe from Roma on loan, and they now look set to big bid for Afobe.
Bournemouth have lost Callum Wilson to injury, and they are looking for a new front man to lead their line.
Eddie Howe believes that Afobe has the ability to play in the Premier League, and will launch a club record bid to sign the 22-year-old.
Wolves are understood to be keen to keep hold of the former Arsenal man, but may not be able to turn down a £12 million offer, with their chances of promotion looking slim.
Wolves are a considerable way back from the play off spaces, and although they still have a chance of breaking into the top six, they are no longer one of the favourites to make it into the Premier League.
As a result, Bournemouth are keen to submit an offer to test Wolves’ resolve over keeping Afobe.
Afobe has scored 10 goals in 27 matches for Wolves so far this season.
