Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Jose Enrique's performance v Exeter

The 29-year-old was unsurprisingly poor for Liverpool in the FA Cup, prompting plenty of reaction from Newcastle fans.

Jose Enrique was always going to be criticised against Exeter City. After spending so long in the wilderness at Liverpool, the odds of a miraculously good performance weren't looking good.

And, from the moment the Reds defender stepped out, things went as one would predict. Enrique was painfully slow to react to Exeter's first goal and the rest of his match followed suit.

Twitter went wild at the first opportunity, suggesting the Spaniard should return to playing table tennis, Mario Kart and, most of all, posting on Instagram.

Rather interestingly, there was plenty of reaction from Newcastle United fans, too. Indeed, for the Magpies faithful, it was a huge shock to see the 29-year-old sink this low.

At Newcastle, Enrique was one of the best full-backs in the Premier League. Now, supporters on Tyneside feel vindicated in suggesting 'the grass isn't always greener.'

Both the Spaniard and Liverpool fans would have expected big things of a man in such form when he arrived at Anfield. And, at times, Enrique showed what he was about - even linking up with Luis Suarez to great effect.

But the former Newcastle left-back is now genuinely struggling for basic fitness - and it prompted plenty of reaction from fans at St James' Park on Twitter. Here's how they responded to Enrique's performance v Exeter on Friday night:
