Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has told Sportlobster.com that either Chelsea or Everton will win the FA Cup this season.
“Chelsea is my first team,” said Owen. “They have got less to focus on than a lot of the other teams out there. The last time Guus Hiddink was in charge of Chelsea, he won the FA Cup and I think that’s a good omen.”
“The other team that I like, which might not be fancied by too many people, are Everton,” added the former Newcastle United striker. “I have been watching Everton quite closely recently. They can score goals, they are conceding a few too many, but they have got a decent defence.”
It is not easy to predict the winners of the FA Cup, but Chelsea will be one of the favourites.
The Blues have started to pick up points under new manager Guus Hiddink and confidence is returning in the camp.
Chelsea have a very strong squad, and with the Premier League title now gone, they could be focusing on the FA Cup.
As for Everton, the Merseyside outfit will probably not be among the favourites at the start of the FA Cup campaign.
The Toffees are aiming for a top-six finish in the Premier League this season, and manager Roberto Martinez may not always field his best available side in the early rounds of the FA Cup.
Chelsea will face Scunthorpe United at Stamford Bridge in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Everton will take on Dagenham & Redbridge at Goodison Park in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
