Mauricio Pochettino hints that Tottenham Hotspur could make changes against Leicester City

Tottenham Hotspur take on Leicester City in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to the London Evening Standard that he will rotate his team for Tottenham Hotspur’s FA Cup match against Leicester City on Sunday.

Pochettino has stuck by a core of players in the Premier League and the Europa League throughout the season so far, and it seems that he may use the FA Cup as a chance to rest some of his key players.

The likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Toby Alderweireld could all found themselves left on the bench, with Pochettino admitting that he wanted to see some of his fringe players in action.

“It is the oldest competition in the world and we respect it,” he said. “We have a strong squad and Christmas was busy, so it’s a good chance for some players who deserve to play to show their quality and fight for a place in the team.”

Spurs are set to face Leicester twice in the next week, with their FA Cup clash serving as a prequel to their Premier League fixture on Wednesday.

It is likely that both sides will name stronger sides for the midweek clash, as they are competing for a place in the top four.

As a result, plenty of Spurs’ squad will be hoping for an opportunity at the weekend.

The likes of Kevin Wimmer, Nabil Bentaleb and Michel Vorm could all be hoping to be involved, as they have had limited minutes in the first team this season.
