Liverpool media round-up: Klopp reportedly unsure on Benteke, Subotic heads target list, weakened side to face Exeter

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Friday morning.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is unconvinced by striker Christian Benteke and may look to upgrade on the forward in the summer, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

They say that Klopp is planning a revamp of his attacking options at the end of the season, but the report does seem a little premature as the German has only been in charge at Anfield for three months, with Benteke having the odd injury problem during that period.

Benteke has struggled at times but has found the net on seven occasions since his arrival and is the club's top scorer this season, yet he has at times been relegated to the bench in favour of playing Roberto Firmino in the main striker's role as a 'false nine'.

In terms of this month's transfer window, Borussia Dortmund Neven Subotic leads the list of targets for the Reds as they look to strengthen at the heart of the defence given the injury crisis the club currently finds itself in, according to a report from Goal.

All of Liverpool's frontline centre-backs have been sidelined through injuries, with Tiago Ilori currently their only option at the back after his loan spell with Aston Villa was cancelled.

The Times reports the extent that Liverpool's resources are being stretched ahead of tonight's FA Cup third round tie with Exeter City.

Jose Enrique could partner Ilori at the heart of the Liverpool defence, while Sheyi Ojo and Ryan Kent could be handed their first team debuts, as manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to field a team with plenty of youngsters in order to protect the existing members of this squad.
