Middlesbrough winger Mustapha Carayol has signed on loan at Leeds United until the end of the season.
Leeds United supporters have had a mixed reaction to Mustapha Carayol’s arrival at Elland Road on Twitter.
Carayol has arrived at Leeds from Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.
The winger becomes the Whites’ second addition of the January transfer window, after they also completed a deal to extend Liam Bridcutt’s loan from Sunderland.
Carayol had been on loan at Huddersfield Town over the early part of the campaign, but Leeds acted quickly to snap him up after that deal was cancelled earlier in the week.
The Gambian winger is expected to have a big role to play in Steve Evans’ side, but he has not been entirely welcomed by Leeds supporters.
Some Whites fans think he will be a good addition to their squad, and they are excited to see him in action, but others are less enthused.
A section of Leeds supporters have suggested that his arrival shows a lack of ambition, while others aren’t convinced he’ll be good enough.
Here is the best reaction from Leeds fans on social media site Twitter.
Carayol tore us apart a couple of years back at Elland road I seem to remember. #lufc— Sam Patton (@sampatton89) January 8, 2016
Carayol is an interesting one. Doesn't give much hope for Botaka. Think he'll be a waste of signing.— I'd Radebe Leeds (@Radebe_Leeds) January 8, 2016
Singing of carayol shows also how far Botaka must be off the pace surely #lufc— Joe Wainman (@wainman1988) January 8, 2016
Brighton sign Knockaert, we get Carayol on loan. The difference in ambition is staggering. #LUFC— Alex Metcalf (@AlexMetcalfLUFC) January 8, 2016
Brighton bought Knockaert yesterday while we have loaned Carayol, but we're a massive team so that doesn't matter right?— Jordan Smith (@Jordan_Smith222) January 8, 2016
Hahaha Mustapha Carayol.... How uninspiring— Chris Purdy (@ChrisPurdy3) January 8, 2016
Mustapha Carayol? Same old story with Leeds in the transfer window, linked with good players, ultimately end up disappointed— Dan Kilburn (@dkilburn1) January 8, 2016
If Leeds are looking to bring in Kyle Lafferty and Carayol I'd say we're more in a relegation battle than anything else.— Wardy (@wardylufc_) January 8, 2016
