Report: Celtic consider move for Romanian Andrei Peteleu after handing defender a trial

Celtic are considering a potential move for defender Andrei Peteleu, after they handed the Romanian a trial, The Scottish Sun reports.

The 23-year-old was invited to train with the Bhoys today, and lined up alongside another trialist, Kristoffer Ajer (via The Scottish Sun).

Peteleu is a right-back that currently plays for Petrolul Ploiesti in the Romanian top flight. And while he has been an under-21 international in the past - with seven caps to his name - his club are currently in serious trouble as they sit bottom of the league and have already booked their place in the relegation play-off.

Peteleu has made 14 appearances for the club this season, but may now be set to join the Scottish Premiership leaders if Ronny Deila is sufficiently impressed by what he sees during his trial.

While Deila has received some criticism for the apparent lack of progress the club has made since he arrived, they have maintained an excellent defensive record this season, conceding just 16 goals in 20 games, so Peteleu will know that he will have to do a great job to convince the Norwegian that he can improve the squad further.
