Aleksandar Mitrovic has struggled to show his true talents with Newcastle.
Speaking to Belgian media outlet HLN, Aleksandar Mitrovic has admitted that he misses former club Anderlecht, having linked up with Newcastle over the summer transfer window.
Mitrovic said: “I sure miss Anderlecht. In the two years I played there, I realised what a great team it is. They will always have a special place in my heart.”
Mitrovic arrived at Newcastle as a highly regarded summer signing, having scored an impressive return of 44 goals in 90 games for the Belgian club.
Young, fiery, and with a wealth of potential, the Magpies were pleased with their signing of Mitrovic given his rapidly growing reputation, but he has so far failed to live up to his talents in the Premier League.
16 games have brought just three goals for the 21-year-old, and his struggles have characterised the struggles that Newcastle have been suffering as a club.
He has found adapting to English football harder than he must have expected, and it is no surprise he misses his time at Anderlecht, when nearly everything he touched turned to gold.
He was first-choice striker for a title competing and Champions League team, and was scoring goals for fun in a league where his quality shone through.
If given the time to impress, Mitrovic is sure to start performing at the top level before too long, and then he can start creating a name for himself with the Magpies, rather than living in the past with Anderlecht.
