According to a report by Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio, Dynamo Kiev’s Yevhen Khacheridi has turned down a move to Everton as he holds out for a bigger club.
The Toffees have been keen to strengthen their squad this month, with boss Roberto Martinez seeking a new defender following the addition of young striker Shani Tarashej.
Dynamo Kiev’s Yevhen Khacheridi has been accredited as a target for Everton, but the Toffees are some way off convincing him of a move to Goodison Park if recent reports are to be believed.
“Dynamo Kiev's defender Khacheridi, born in 1987, s dreaming of making a move to a big club, and if you've seen him play you will understand why. The player is physically very strong but also careful and has drawn attention from many big clubs, which is why he has refused Everton,” the report reads.
Khacheridi has regularly featured for the Ukrainian outfit and helped them qualify for the Champions League knockout stages this season from a group containing Chelsea.
His European experience would suggest that he would only move to a club to continue playing at the highest level – a factor which hinders Everton’s hopes of bringing him in.
The Toffees have conceded 29 goals this season and without an improvement in defence, their chances of finishing in this season’s top four remain extremely slim.
