We're guessing Everton fans are sending Mrs Lukaku loads of flowers as we speak.
While Jamie Vardy may have taken most of the limelight so far this season among Premier League strikers, Everton's Romelu Lukaku has been on fire lately and it doesn't look like he'll be stopping any time soon.
The big Belgian scored his 11th goal in as many games after Roberto Martinez's side beat Manchester City in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg at Goodison Park. In fact, Lukaku is the joint-top scorer in the Premier League with Vardy after netting 15 times - a goal fewer than Aston Villa have managed all season.
Though Lukaku has been in incredible form as of late, the 22-year-old may not have ended up in the blue half of Merseyside at all - if it wasn't for a persistent Roberto Martinez and Lukaku's mum!
In an interview with FourFourTwo magazine, Lukaku has revealed how he came to the decision to leave Chelsea for the Toffees, saying: "He [Martinez] actually called me three times and I didn’t pick up on the first two, so I’m glad I answered eventually,”
"I discussed it with him, I spoke to Chelsea, I spoke to my mother, and eventually, she said: ‘Go to Everton.’ I haven’t regretted it."
It looks like Everton fans have a lot to thank Mrs Lukaku for! Especially as their son has given them the upper hand in their clash with Manchester City in the Capital One Cup, which could help the Toffees to their first cup final since the FA Cup defeat against Chelsea back in 2009.
The Belgian did pick up a slight knock in the game with City but Martinez has the chance to rest him, as Everton host League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge in the FA Cup third-round clash.
