Report: Man United recall Adnan Januzaj from Borussia Dortmund loan spell

Old Trafford 3

The Belgium international has struggled to make an impact at the Westfalenstadion.

Manchester United have recalled winger Adnan Januzaj from his disappointing loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, BBC Sport reports.

Despite the Red Devils beginning the season with a lack of attacking options, the 20-year-old was allowed to join the Bundesliga giants towards the end of the summer transfer window.

However, the Belgian had made just six substitute appearances in the league for Thomas Tuchel's side, and BBC Sport reports that it is due to the lack of game-time that he has been brought back to England early.

Although Januzaj has been guilty of inconsistency at times during his brief career, there is little question that United could have done with his presence in the side during the first part of this campaign.

Following his departure, Louis van Gaal was left with few creative options, and that has often resulted in United's methodical style being criticised.

And while the youngster may not have been in the Dutchman's initial plans, his return comes at a time when United find themselves outside of the Premier League's top four, and thus, may see van Gaal take a chance on Januzaj in the hope that he can produce some moments of magic.
