HITC Sport understands Peterborough striker Kyle Vassell is set to join League One rivals Shrewsbury.
Shrewsbury Town have agreed a deal to sign Peterborough forward Kyle Vassell on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the potential deal.
Vassell has just completed a loan spell at League Two strugglers Dagenham & Redbridge where he helped them to reach the third round of the FA Cup with three goals in eight starts.
The 22-year-old is now set for another loan spell away from Peterborough with Vassell down the pecking order in Graham Westley's plans.
Shrewsbury have moved quickly to land Vassell as they see him as the ideal replacement for Tyrone Barnett following his switch to Southend on loan until the end of the season.
Shrewsbury are just one point above the relegation drop zone and boss Micky Mellon sees Vassell as the man who can fire his side to safety.
Vassell joined Peterborough in November 2013 for an undisclosed fee after scoring 16 goals in 17 games for non-league side Bishop's Stortford.
The skilful forward was top scorer in League One at the start of last season before injury curtailed his progress, finishing the campaign with five goals in 15 starts.
