The goalkeeper is expected to start v The Gunners this weekend.
Sunderland take on Arsenal in the FA Cup this weekend and it looks as though there could be a first-team debut for one of their most promising talents.
The player in question is England Under-21 international goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
He was recalled by Sunderland from an impressive loan stint with Preston North End last week and it is reported by The Mirror that he will start the game v Arsenal on Saturday.
It comes as it becomes increasingly clear that Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is not a fan of Romanian giant Costel Pantilimon between the posts, after Vito Mannone was recently handed the gloves.
Pickford was snapped in action in training today for Sunderland and it certainly looked like Sunderland goalkeeper coach Adrian Tucker and his team.
Pickford, who is well known for his excellent distribution, is being tipped as a future Sunderland number one and some even believe he will represent the biggest threat to Jack Butland regarding long term succession to current England number one Joe Hart.
Sunderland fans will hope he can live up to the hype against The Gunners at the weekend.
