HITC Sport understands Huddersfield are set to sign the Middlesbrough defender.

Huddersfield Town are set to raid Championship rivals Middlesbrough to sign defender James Husband, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the potential deal.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner is in the market for a new left-back after seeing Ben Chilwell return to Leicester and he has lined up a move for Husband.

Husband, who joined Middlesbrough from Doncaster Rovers last summer, has found first-team opportunities in Aitor Karanka's limited over the last 12 months, largely due to the form of George Friend.

The 22-year-old has spent most of this season on loan at Fulham and he has impressed at Craven Cottage, making 12 appearances for the Cottagers.

Fulham were thought to be keen on keeping Husband, but Huddersfield have moved quickly to agree a deal to bring him to the John Smith's Stadium.

Middlesbrough are happy to sanction another loan for Husband as he is unlikely to break into Karanka’s side and they feel he would be best served by going out and getting regular first-team action under his belt.

It remains to be seen if Huddersfield will seal a deal for Husband in time for him to make his debut this weekend against Reading.
