Micky Quinn predicts QPR’s league finish

Queens Park Rangers are aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

Former Newcastle United forward Micky Quinn said on the Weekend Brekkie show on talkSPORT on Saturday morning (January 2) that Queens Park Rangers will not finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

“To me, Queens Park Rangers are not going anywhere,” said Quinn. “They have got an outside chance of maybe getting a playoff place.

“Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has gone there, he hasn’t won any game, but they look to me they are going to stagnate in the middle of the table. I can’t see them getting into the playoffs.”

QPR are 16th in the Championship table at the moment with just 30 points from 25 matches.

Rangers are nine points above the relegation zone and as many as 11 points behind Ipswich Town, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

Things are not looking great for the London outfit, with manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink yet to win his first game in charge of the team.

QPR do have a decent team, though, and one suspects that the first win could make a huge impact.

The London side will take on Blackburn Rovers (away), Rotherham United (away), Wolverhampton Wanderers (home) and Nottingham Forest (away) in the Championship this month.

It is important that QPR pick up at least eight points from those matches in order to maintain their chances of earning a place in the Championship playoffs.
