Taking to his personal Twitter account, former Spurs star Micky Hazard has questioned why people still doubt that Tottenham are realistic title contenders, having watched the game between Everton and Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
City favourites for title being outplayed by Everton, We dominated Everton for 75 mins until we tired, yet people doubt us— Micky Hazard (@1MickyHazard) January 6, 2016
Hazard explains that Everton outplayed Manchester City in that game - and won by a 2-1 scoreline - yet Manuel Pellegrini’s men are considered title favourites.
He then goes on to highlight how Spurs dominated the Toffees in their Premier League encounter last week, only losing control of the game in the final stages when Mauricio Pochettino’s men tired and faded.
This result left Spurs in fourth place, six points off the top and just three points behind Manchester City.
However, people still doubt that Spurs are realistic title contenders, regardless of how many top class performances they put in.
Hazard’s view is one which looks at football in a linear manner, but there are many signs which prove the Lilywhites have what it takes to win the Premier League this term.
They have not only dominated the team who dominated City, but they absolutely demolished City when the two teams faced off earlier this campaign. Pochettino’s men also have the joint lowest number of defeats in the division, and look like the most consistent team by far.
Yet, the North London club keep getting written off, and many could be in for a surprise if Spurs do win the division at the end of this campaign.
