Liverpool and Aston Villa fans react on Twitter as Tiago Ilori returns to Anfield

The Portugal under-21 international did not feature at all during his time at Villa Park.

Liverpool's current injury problems have presented an opportunity to one of their young players who was previously out on a very depressing loan deal.

Tiago Ilori has returned to Liverpool today after six miserable months at Villa Park.

The talented defender did not get a game at Villa despite their current woes in the Premier League.

Liverpool - who have Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho currently out injured - are desperate for defensive cover this month and the Portuguese youngster is now set to get straight in to first-team action.

There is no doubt that Liverpool fans are excited to see what he can do at the club, with a potential appearance against Exeter City in the FA Cup on Friday:

Aston Villa fans meanwhile are bemused as to why on earth their club snapped up the player on loan when they seemingly had no intention of playing him:

The Hampstead-born Portugal under-21 international arrived at Liverpool from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2013, in a deal reportedly worth around £8 million – according to the Daily Mirror.

He has already spent two spells out on loan away from Liverpool in the past two years.

He spent the end of the 2013-14 season on loan at La Liga outfit Granada and impressed sufficiently for Ligue 1 side Bordeaux to take him on loan for the 2014-15 campaign – where he played 14 times and scored once.
