Leeds boss Steve Evans among nominees for the Championship's Manager of the Month for December

United remained unbeaten throughout the month to move well up the table.

Leeds United boss Steve Evans has been included on the four-man shortlist for the Championship's Manager of the Month award for December, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.

Evans - who became the Whites' new head coach in October - saw his side remain unbeaten for the entirety of the month, a run that has continued into January following the draw with MK Dons last weekend.

Having begun the month 17th, and just four points above the relegation zone, United won three games out of six. They recorded an excellent victory over promotion contenders Hull City to begin the month.

And after a frustrating stalemate with Charlton, Leeds returned to winning ways with two consecutive victories. The first came in an exciting 3-2 win at Molineux against Wolves, before a much less enthralling performance followed at home to Preston North End.

The side rounded off the month with two draws against Nottingham Forest and Derby County. The game at the City Ground saw Leeds dictate much of the contest, however a defensive lapse from Giuseppe Bellusci and Marco Silvestri during the first-half would mean Sam Byram's late strike was just to ensure that the points were shared.

However, they had Silvestri to thank for the point against Paul Clement's side two days later. The Italian made a late point-blank save to keep Leeds' unbeaten run in tact, and ensure that they finished the month in the top half of the table.

Evans will be competing with Middlesbrough's Aitor Karanka, Dean Smith of Brentford and Ipswich's Mick McCarthy for the award (via Yorkshire Evening Post).
