The transfer window has been open a week and already it is looking more problematic for Leeds United than like an opportunity to savour.
The club have been limited to loan enquiries, while attempting to fend off interest in their key players.
Arguably their prize asset is young midfielder Lewis Cook, who at just 18 looks like a future club captain, if he sticks around long enough.
SkySports report however that the midfielder is not for sale, with head coach Steve Evans confirming the club had received enquiries, but believes owner Massimo Cellino is not intent on selling.
For Leeds this is great news if true, but for Bournemouth it is an opportunity denied to sign an outstanding young talent who appears already good enough to play in the Premier League, and who would have the potential to help establish the club in the top flight in years to come.
Leeds are, in terms of trophy wins and attendances, a club with more history and fan power than Bournemouth, but the Cherries are the ones who have earned Premier League status, and have the funds to kick on.
Bournemouth supporters have indicated they would be keen to see Lewis Cook at the club, here is a look at how they have reacted on Twitter to the transfer talk over the past few days...
Like Steve Evans alot but best thing for Lewis Cook's developement would be working under Eddie Howe. Improves players so much! #afcb— Tim Such (@timsuch66) January 7, 2016
I'd love to see Cook at Bournemouth, 18, bright future. Very Eddie signing. Plus Leeds; fans reaction would be worth anything we pay #afcb— AFCB Daily (@AfcbDaily) January 6, 2016
