Allardyce hoping for two more Sunderland signings after Kirchhoff

The Sunderland boss is hopeful of bringing in a total of three players during the January transfer window.

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has been speaking at his latest press conference about who he would like to see join Jan Kirchhoff at the Stadium of Light this month.

The Black Cats boss revealed that the 25-year-old German defender was in the building ahead of his move from Bayern Munich and he went on to suggest there could be two more new additions…provided everything went according to plan.

When asked how many more signings Allardyce wanted to make after Kirchhoff, he said, “Probably another two, if that’s at all possible financially. But if has to be balanced off financially with the restrictions we have now under the Premier League fair play rules.

“If I can find another one or two players of the ability that I hope Jan can show then we’ll try and do that.”

Sunderland are currently 19th in the Premier League with 15 points from a possible 60, and with four points separating them from safety as things stand there is plenty of work to be done in the months ahead.

Kirchhoff will certainly play a vital role for Sunderland but he cannot do it alone and it will be interesting to see who else Allardyce manages to bring in before the end of the month.
